Who I Am
Everyone would be amazed at some of the letters, calls, and
e-mails I receive. Some people on the left call me a radical
fundamentalist, while some on the right call me a liberal or
even a backslider. Others in the apparent middle just call me
whatever comes to their mind. Thank the Lord these calls
constitute only a single digit amount compared to the kind and
grateful calls from friends, supporters, and people who love the
things we speak of and write about.
May I say that I do
not mind the critical calls because they express the honest
feelings of people who may be in search for the truth? Not a one
of us know it all and I pity that man that cannot learn more as
he travels the Road to Eternity and our ultimate judgment before
the Creator. To everyone who contacts us in any way, we express
gratitude that you at least read or heard enough to get your
attention.
I am a very simple
man with a wonderful family. My daughter calls my articles
hieroglyphics when she first gets them out of my hands. She is
not far from right. Juanita is the first lady (and she vows the
last) and a southern queen in regal form. She is my wife of 47
years this June 5th. We have three children and six
grandchildren. The names of my family members are as follows:
Terence (Terry) and Anne with three children, our Curtis, our
Caleb, and our Cami. Theresa and Michael, with our Christa and
our Andrew. Then Tanya and Rick with our Tiffany. They are all
important to Juanita and I and we live with a covenant of God
for our family to be a circle unbroken in the eternal land.
We are Classical
Pentecostals. That means we are old-fashioned Pentecostals that
believe in living holy lives by the Word of God. We believe the
King James Bible is our infallible translation of Holy Scripture
from the Textus Receptus manuscripts and reject the liberal
translations of the Alexandrian manuscripts. The Paw Creek
church is a wonderful family of clean cut Godly saints that are
given to the ministries reflected on this website. We are part
of a fellowship of churches. I am the General Overseer of the
"Bible Holiness Ministerial Fellowship", with ministers in four
foreign countries and across America. Our fellowship was
organized in November of 1998 and is providing wonderful
ministry for a growing list of Classical Pentecostal churches.
The Classical
Pentecostals believe in the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with the
evidence of speaking in tongues. Our difference with
Charismatics is our belief in the Sovereignty of the Holy Ghost
in all gifts of the Spirit and we reject the insane emotions
connected to it that they call the anointing. Each believer is
responsible for order in their worship and praise in the
Spirit's operation. Paul plainly said, "The spirit of the
prophet is subject to the prophet." (I Corinthians 14:32)
Uncontrolled emotions are the work of evil spirits or
undisciplined people, but never the work of the Holy Ghost. The
Book of Acts is a perfect example of a Holy Ghost revival
beautifully operating without fanaticism. The gifts of the Holy
Ghost are imperative for today's church. That's why Satan has
produced the Charismatic counterfeit. (Please read the
article on this website entitled, "Charismatics False Teaching")
The local church,
named Paw Creek Ministries, where I am Senior Minister operates
a number of beautiful ministries. Our Christian Academy cares
for children between 2 years old and the 12th grade. We
registered over 75 students this school year. Our curriculum is
ABeka and our school is a traditional program of academic
excellence. Our radio ministry is worldwide and our newsletter
is in over 50 countries.
We left the Church
of God (Cleveland, TN) in 1992, after our congregation voted to
withdraw because of the Charismatic compromise, discarding of
the King James Bible, and promoting such evangelists as Benny
Hinn, etc. The denomination sued us in court for our three
million dollar campus that we had built with our own hands,
piece by piece. Because the Church of God was central in
government, we finally gave up the court fight after we were
ruled against by a similar believing Methodist judge. We could
have sought another appeal, but had already spent approximately
$100,000 on attorney fees.
When we moved out of
our buildings on a beautiful 20-acre site, we had nothing but a
few things we had purchased during the year long court struggle.
We rented a school building and moved a small part of our school
into the homes of my family members. K-4 - 1st grade was in
Theresa and Mike's home, 2nd and 3rd was in Juanita's and my
home, 4th - 6th was in Terry and Anne's home, and high school at
Tanya and Rick's. The second year we rented a building on the
property we later bought. What an adventure!
It's very evident
where we are now and what the Lord is doing through our
ministry. Our commitment is to be a great local church with a
wonderful program of Christian Education and an academically
strong Christian Academy. Beyond the local church, we want to
minister to the world by radio, our publications, and to provide
the best in good books, videos, audios, and other Christian
materials. Strengthening the hands of other ministers and
ministries is important to myself, my family, and our entire
church family.
When we produce a
video, it is to teach some wonderful subject of the Bible in a
way that touches as many lives as possible. If we expose a
ministry, it is because we are convinced that that ministry is
teaching a false gospel and adversely affecting eternal souls.
We welcome you to
visit our church in Charlotte, NC, and learn about us first
hand. Most people find our family to be one of the kindest
congregations they have ever worshipped among. We are Biblical
Holiness people, but very careful that you see Jesus in us, and
not just our exterior separation from the world by lifestyle.
Holiness must begin in the heart and then reach to every
extremity of our person. Made in His image, we want to do
nothing to defile us, His temple, nor mar His creativity.
I am delighted to
share a little bit of who I am and what my personal family and
our local church believe. Jesus is soon to return and no one
knows the hour. Let's help each other get ready for home-going
day just in case it may be tomorrow.
